DEMANDING A SEAT AT THE TABLE
We give parents a voice to improve their own communities
Parents are often blamed for the problems their children are having in school. When parents don’t have the knowledge and information they need to stand up for their child and address these problems, they become powerless. These same schools who are blaming parents are sending children to high school reading on a third grade level. This is criminal. Without an education, our children are ending up in jail or in the morgue.
The Public Advocate Fellowship is a revolutionary program designed by and for parents to increase the number of parents who participate in the public conversation about education in our city. This program is for parents, grandparents and community members with a vested interest in improving education outcomes for students in Memphis.
The program is free.
